I’ve only had it for a couple days, but already my cat has benefitted from this product. He likes to beg both me and my partner to get extra food, which could have probably easily been solved with a simple feeding chart we could have drawn up to ensure he ate at his proper times (unfortunately, this cat doesn’t know how to self-regulate his eating). However, we came across automatic feeders and since we happened to have the money to spend, we pulled the trigger and it’s been working out great for everyone. Is your cat roughly 10 lbs? Try feeding my 4x/day, 4 hours between meals, 2 portions per meal for the first 3 meals, and 3 portions for their final meal/dinner. This gives roughly 3/4 cup of dry cat food per day as normally recommended. For example, I set the feeder for 2 portions at 7 am, 2 portions at 11 am, 2 portions at 3 pm, and finally 3 portions at 7 pm. The little extra at night helps curb his appetite to snack on around midnight when he also likes to cry for food.

We have an overweight cat, who consistently binge eats. This feeder allows us to break up her meals into controlled portions on an automated schedule. We selected the Petlibro based on the price point, features and stellar reviews... it was WORTH it!PROs:- This feeder is extremely easy to setup- Backup battery power means peace of mind when away from the home- Detachable bowl for easy and quick cleaning- Reservoir design allows for ALL food to be dispensed (No need to shake the food down)- Portion sizes are consistent, and easily adjustable to meet the household need- Holds 7+ days worth of food when dispensing 20 portions per day (4 meals per day, 5 portions per meal)- Recordable voice allows your pet to hear YOU call them- Manual feed button to dispense single portion when desired- Screen auto-locks after 10-15 secondsCONs:- No alarm when the reservoir is depleted- Lid could potentially be removed by an aggressive or persistent pet (not lockable)Overall, we're very happy with this purchase. It has provided us with ease of mind, and our pets with a health routine. It's comforting to see them come running whenever it's meal time. We were a little concerned it might startle them, but they've embraced the Petlibro. This is the feeder you are looking for -- WORTH EVERY PENNY!
Okay, so I took a little effort to figure out the menus as the instructions are limited, but after the initial learning curve it was easy. We have a cat who meows in our bedroom around 6:15 every day, as she believes THIS is her breakfast time. I feed her dry food in the morning, and wet food at night. I have the PetLibro set up to dispense 2 portions at 6:15 am, and 3 more portions (for a total of about 1/4 cup) at 6:45 am. No more meowing in the morning, AND no more puking up breakfast because she inhaled it! A double-win for me. We have a second PetLibro set up outside for our bunnies (we have two). I have one meal set for 6:30 am, with 5 portions (about a 1/4 cup) and that takes care of their morning feeding. Since we have water jugs in both locations, mornings are now a piece of cake! We had to devise a PVC pipe system to hide the cord on the outside bunny feeder as they will chew the wire if they can get their teeth on it, but this was pretty simple. I thought about using just the batteries for the outside feeder, but wasn't sure if this would work long-term, as so rigged the PVC pipe and installed the back-up batteries, as recommended. I can put WEEKS of food in these, since they are only feeding once a day. Love them!

To compensate for the height, I bought a monitor stand so the feeder is about same height as the food bowl (~4 inch height). Instructions were easy to follow. The recorded message plays after the kibbles come out. But I found that the noise of kibbles hitting the bowl is sufficient enough. My cat knows that her food is out once she hears it therefore I removed the recording. The first one to two portions coming out will not yet be perfect so make sure to monitor the feeder as you test it out throughout the day. It's also noted on their instruction manual. After that, it comes out as it should be. It's easy to take out and clean the container.Since it's designed for small and medium pets, my hope that the future version: (1) will have a longer power cable (at least 6-8 feet long), (2) will have a smaller portion ~1-1.5tsps, (3) increase the number of portions per meal (>9), and (4) increase the of meals per day (at least 6 to 8). This is so that it'll be flexible enough to cater to pets who are on a weight loss program, or who eat more frequently throughout the day.
I have three cats at home. Usually, I feed wet food first. Once they finish the wet food then I will refill the dry food. In this case, I can ensure they get the necessary nutrition. However, the downside is I have to feed twice each time which is really time-consuming.By using this auto feeder, I only need to feed them wet food and walk away. The feeder will do the refill later. So far I used it for a week and there still something left in the container. It totally meets my needs.Interestingly, the recording function is kind of redundant. After a week, the cats already built up the reflection. When the feeder starts dumping, the dumping sound is big enough to attract them to make a run. :)
